Arts and Crafts around Ullswater

Rheged, the Village in the Hill (www.rheged.com) on the road to Penrith, houses the Made in Cumbria shop, where a huge range of locally produced crafts: paintings, prints, pottery, jewellery, toys, glass, wood turning, etc., are displayed for sale. There are regular Pottery demonstrations, also the Carlisle and Cumbria Artists Gallery, and Food from the Fells local produce shop.

Greystoke Gill Pottery (www.greystokegillpottery.co.uk), about six miles from Pooley Bridge - stoneware pots, demonstrations and tuition.

Beckstones Art Gallery, Greystoke, (www.beckstonesartgallery.co.uk), about seven miles from Pooley Bridge - reckoned to be one of the best Art Galleries in the country with over 300 paintings in a variety of media.

Upfront Gallery, (www.up-front.com) near Hutton in the Forest, about eight miles from Pooley Bridge, has regularly changing programme of exhibitions of paintings, ceramics, crafts, also cards and jewellery and vegetarian daytime restaurant.
