Glenridding lies at the southern end of Ullswater in the Lake District. The village grew up around the Greenside mine which now forms the Helvellyn Youth Hostel. The village now provides a great range of holiday accommodation including hotels, holiday cottages, B&Bs and a campsite. There are also a good range of local shops, cafes, restaurants, a great local garage, as well as local attractions such as the Ullswater Steamers and the Glenridding Sailing Centre.

Glenridding Pubs
Glenridding has a good selection of pubs including the Travellers Rest Pub, offering ales and food throughout the day. There is also the Ratchers Tavern - attached to the Glenridding Hotel, and the Ramblers Bar - attached to the Inn on the Lake Hotel.
Glenridding Cafes/Restaurants
The hotels all offer excellent food, with the Inn on the Lake Lake View Restaurant having 2 rosettes. There is also Fellbites, a cafe and restaurant serving excellent food throughout the day and some evenings. Fairlight Guest House also has a cafe open all day, as does Kilners Coffee House, attached to the Glenridding Hotel.

Glenridding Shops
Glenridding is well served with excellent local shops, including Sharmans (which also has a cash machine) and the Glenridding General Store offering everything from food and drink to walking supplies. There is also a newsagent and the superb Catstycam Outdoor Walking gear shop, which also has a branch in Pooley Bridge. Nearby Patterdale also has a village store and post office.
Glenridding Attractions
Glenridding is home to the Ullswater Steamers who run regularly cruises across Ullswater to Howtown and Pooley Bridge. Glenridding is also home to the Glenridding Sailing Centre who offer boat hire, sailing tuition and much more.
It is also a great place to park up for the walk up Helvellyn, as well as many of the other Eastern fells in the Lake District, including St Sunday Crag, Fairfield, Stybarrow Dodd and Raise (where there is skiing in the winter).

Glenridding also has a petrol station which also offers a brilliant garage and repair shop should you car need some attention when you are on holiday. There is also a doctors surgery. There is also the Ullswater Tourist Information Centre in the main car park in Glenridding.
Glenridding is also home to M&A Private Hire who offer 4 and 6 seater car service including pre-booked taxis for weddings, transfers and also Lake District Tours.
