Nearest Shops: The Patterdale Village Store is 300 yards away and sells a great range of food, wines and other produce. In Glenridding there are 2 general stores (one with a cashpoint), a newsagent, Catsytcam outdoor shop and a petrol station and local garage.
Walking and Activities: The How is just 5 minutes from Ullswater with its great range of activities including sailing, kayaking and the Ullswater Steamers. It is ideally placed for walking the Eastern Fells including Helvellyn, Place Fell, St Sunday Crag and plenty more besides.

The How is a detached bungalow offering stylish self catering holiday accommodation for 3 people in Patterdale in the Lake District. The Cottage was completely refurbished in the summer of 2011.
The cottage is ideally located for anyone looking to enjoy the many pleasures of Ullswater and surrounding area, including sailing, canoeing and of course walking. The main path from Patterdale to Helvellyn starts about 100 yards from the cottage.
Inside the bungalow is compact with one double bedroom and one single bedroom. The lounge and dining room benefits from floor to ceiling sliding patio doors which offer panoramic views over Goldrill Beck towards Place Fell. There is also a wood burning stove, freeview TV, books, games and some DVDs. The kitchen has dishwasher, fridge, cooker and microwave and outside there is a utility room with a washing machine and another fridge freezer.
Outside there is a patio garden to the front and rear with several benches and tables and chairs to make the most of the afternoon sun (when it appears) and to soak up the views. There is off-road parking on the drive.
The cottage is ideal for couples, friends or small families. Bookings run from Friday to Friday and at the moment SHORT BREAKS ARE AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
