Nearest Pub: The White Lion in Patterdale is a 2 minute walk away. Just over the road is the Patterdale Hotel which serves food to non-residents. Nearby Glenridding has a pub, 2 hotels with pubs, Fellbites Restaurant, and Greystones Cafe
Nearest Shops: In Patterdale the village store and post office is open 7 days a week. In Glenridding there are 2 general stores (one with a cashpoint), a newsagent, Catsytcam outdoor shop and a petrol station and local garage.
Transport Links
By Road: About 30 minutes drive down the A592 from Junction 40 of the M6 (Penrith). About 40 minutes from Junction 36 (via Kendal and Windermere. Keswick about 20 minutes by car. We are on the main road by the school near the Church.
By Train: Nearest Train Stations at Penrith and Windermere
By Bus: Regular bus service to Glenridding from Penrith (all year) and Windermere (summer only).

The School House Bed and Breakfast in Patterdale offers excellent B&B accommodation in our family home. We are ideally located in the centre of Patterdale, close to Ullswater, Helvellyn and the rest of the Eastern Fells and we are ideally placed for the coast to coast walking route.
We have one en-suite double bedroom, which can of course also be used for single occupancy. Guests also have their own sitting room with fell views. There are also additional double and single rooms with a shared bathroom which can also be used by family or group.
Our delicious home cooked breakfasts include a Full English (cereal, fruit juice, eggs, bacon, sausages, grilled tomato, black pudding, toast and jam, tea or coffee) or continental breakfast (cereal, fruit juice or our special fruit smoothies, boiled egg, homemade bread with jam and/or cheese, tea or coffee).
Tea and coffee-making facilities are available at all times. A welcome half bottle of wine will also be awaiting you in your room.
We are ideally located to take advantage of the many local attractions and amenities, from sailing on Ullswater to walking the superb local fells, including Helvellyn, Place Fell and St Sunday Crag - all accessible from the front door.
Above all the School House is our home, and is filled with a range of fixtures, fittings and ornaments we have collected over the many years we have spent travelling and working overseas.
